Welcome to Wix Ideas! In today’s post, we’re diving into a valuable tool for online businesses: the abandoned cart recovery feature on Wix. This tool is designed to help bring back potential customers who left before completing their purchases. Follow along to learn how to set up and customize abandoned cart recovery for both Wix Studio and Wix Classic.

What is an Abandoned Cart?

An “abandoned cart” happens when a customer adds items to their cart, begins the checkout process, but leaves the site before completing their purchase. This is a common issue for online stores, and it can mean lost sales. However, by using Wix’s abandoned cart recovery feature, you can reach out to these customers and encourage them to complete their purchases.

Step 1: Accessing the Abandoned Cart Feature

To get started, go to your Wix dashboard. Under Customers and Leads, you’ll find the Abandoned Carts section. This is where Wix collects the details of customers who abandoned their checkout process, including the items they intended to purchase.

💡 Tip: If this is your first time using the feature, you’ll need to activate it. Simply click the Turn on Automation button, and Wix will confirm that your automation is live.

Step 2: Setting Up the Automation Flow

With automation on, Wix allows you to create a follow-up sequence for abandoned carts. In the automation builder, configure your flow with these key steps:

  1. Trigger: Set the trigger for when a checkout is abandoned.

  2. Delay: Decide on the wait time before the follow-up action, like sending an email. You can set the delay to a few hours or even a few days. For example, many businesses set a delay of one hour to quickly remind the customer about their abandoned cart.

  3. Action: Select the action to take after the delay. The most effective action is sending an email with details about the abandoned cart.

Step 3: Customizing the Abandoned Cart Email

Creating an engaging, branded email can significantly boost your chances of recovery. In the email editor, you can customize the following:

  • Sender Details: Set a recognizable sender name and reply-to email address.

  • Email Subject Line: Craft a catchy subject line to grab attention. Personalization helps; for instance, use “Your [Product Name] is Still Waiting!”

  • Email Content: In the email body, remind customers about the specific product they left behind. You can include dynamic content, like the product’s image, name, and price, to make it personal.

  • Offer an Incentive: To further entice customers, consider adding a small discount, such as 10% off if they complete their order. This discount can be created in your Coupons section, and you can add the discount code directly in the email.

Step 4: Testing Your Automation

Once your email and automation flow are set up, test it by sending a sample email to yourself. This helps you see the email exactly as your customers would, ensuring all elements look and function correctly.

Step 5: Monitoring Abandoned Cart Recovery

After the automation goes live, track its performance in the Abandoned Carts section. You’ll see data on whether the customer received, opened, and clicked on the email, giving you insights into how effective your reminders are.

Ready to Recover Those Lost Sales?

Setting up abandoned cart recovery is a powerful way to reduce lost sales and improve your customers’ experience. Whether you’re new to automations or a pro, this feature is a must-have for any online store owner.

Love the tutorial!!!

You are truly great at creating these instructional videos!! Thank you! I am having trouble figuring out . . 'the triggered email' . . it is not being sent to the user submitting the form, the form and the email to the admin works great. . Could you point me to where this might have already been addressed? or any other help? On a second note. .the submit button success/failure message will go back to the default message once it's connected to the data set(I couldn't figure that out either. )

Great Tutorial

Hi !

First of all, I want to thank you for your great tutorials, they helped us a lot with the coding.
But I still need your help, if you don't mind. I have based on Save Calculated Field using Wix Data Hooks Codes, to code my form . but the problem is I don't know why the code only reads the computation for "week2" computation and not the "weeks"

here is the code

I also did a separate column in the dataset where the chosen datas for both fields will be placed.

$w.onReady (() => {
$w("#Person").onChange(() => {
$w("#weeks").onChange(() => {
$w("#week2").onChange(() => {
let person = Number($w("#Person").value);
let weeks = Number($w("#weeks").value);
let week2 = Number($w("#week2").value);

$w("#totalLabel").show();

$w("#totalLabel").text = `"${String(weeks * Number(person))}페소"`; //DESIGN YOUR MESSAGE
$w("#totalLabel").text = `"${String(week2 * Number(person))}페소"`; //DESIGN YOUR MESSAGE

});
});
});

});

Hi there, thanks for your comment. I see why this is a problem. The onChange() function seems wrong in combination.

To combine onChangeFunctions use this method

$w("#Person, #weeks, #weeks2").onChange(() => {

//code here

});
