Stick and scroll effect in Wix Studio by Wix Ideas

Welcome to Wix Ideas! In this blog post, we’ll dive into creating a sticky scroll effect for your Wix Studio website. This sleek effect allows containers or images to “stick” to the top of your page as you scroll, creating a polished and engaging design for your visitors. Whether you're a web design novice or a pro, follow this step-by-step guide to add this feature seamlessly.

Why Use the Sticky Scroll Effect?

The sticky scroll effect enhances your website’s interactivity and visual appeal. It’s perfect for showcasing content like:

  • Portfolios: Highlight images or projects.

  • E-commerce: Display featured products or promotions.

  • Restaurant Websites: Present stunning food imagery, as shown in our example.

Step 1: Setting Up Your Section

  1. Navigate to the page where you want the sticky scroll effect.

  2. Add a new section:

    • Scroll to your desired area and click Add Section.

  3. Configure the grid layout:

    • Click the section, select Grid Layout, and add three columns for this tutorial.

  4. Adjust the section height:

    • Set the height to 1,200 pixels for ample space to work with.

  5. Add padding:

    • Apply 4% padding on all edges to create clean spacing.

Step 2: Adding Containers and Images

  1. Go to Design Containers:

    • Choose your preferred container design or start with an empty container.

  2. Add your first container to the first grid column:

    • Customize the corner radius to 20% for a sleek rounded look.

    • Insert a food image or another image relevant to your site.

    • To replace the default image, click Change Image, search for your desired category (e.g., "food"), and select an image.

  3. Duplicate the container:

    • Copy it for the other two columns, adjusting images and alignment for variety.

Step 3: Making Containers Sticky

  1. For each container:

    • Click Position, then select Sticky.

    • Set the offset to 133%.

  2. Align each container:

    • Ensure alignment to the center or top of each column for a uniform layout.

Step 4: Testing Your Sticky Scroll Effect

  1. Preview your site to test the effect:

    • As you scroll, each container will “stick” to the top in sequence.

    • The sticky animation creates a smooth and interactive browsing experience.

Final Thoughts

Adding the sticky scroll effect to your Wix Studio website is a great way to elevate your site’s design. Whether you’re showcasing products, portfolio pieces, or restaurant menus, this effect grabs attention and keeps users engaged.

Love the tutorial!!!

You are truly great at creating these instructional videos!! Thank you! I am having trouble figuring out . . 'the triggered email' . . it is not being sent to the user submitting the form, the form and the email to the admin works great. . Could you point me to where this might have already been addressed? or any other help? On a second note. .the submit button success/failure message will go back to the default message once it's connected to the data set(I couldn't figure that out either. )

Great Tutorial

Hi !

First of all, I want to thank you for your great tutorials, they helped us a lot with the coding.
But I still need your help, if you don't mind. I have based on Save Calculated Field using Wix Data Hooks Codes, to code my form . but the problem is I don't know why the code only reads the computation for "week2" computation and not the "weeks"

here is the code

I also did a separate column in the dataset where the chosen datas for both fields will be placed.

$w.onReady (() => {
$w("#Person").onChange(() => {
$w("#weeks").onChange(() => {
$w("#week2").onChange(() => {
let person = Number($w("#Person").value);
let weeks = Number($w("#weeks").value);
let week2 = Number($w("#week2").value);

$w("#totalLabel").show();

$w("#totalLabel").text = `"${String(weeks * Number(person))}페소"`; //DESIGN YOUR MESSAGE
$w("#totalLabel").text = `"${String(week2 * Number(person))}페소"`; //DESIGN YOUR MESSAGE

});
});
});

});

Hi there, thanks for your comment. I see why this is a problem. The onChange() function seems wrong in combination.

To combine onChangeFunctions use this method

$w("#Person, #weeks, #weeks2").onChange(() => {

//code here

});
